Technician- Drainage
Technician – Drainage Maintenance – Croft Depot
Organisation: Leicestershire County Council
Location: Croft Depot, Arbor Road, Croft, Leicestershire LE9 3GE
Salary: £28,605 – £31,029 per annum (pro-rata for part-time, pay award pending)
Hours: 37 hours per week (Full-time)
Contract: Permanent
Closing Date: Sunday, 26 July 2026
Interviews: TBC (mid-August) – in person
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Environmental & Preventative Team at Leicestershire County Council.
As a Technician working in drainage maintenance, you will:
- Carry out scheduled on-site inspections of road drainage assets.
- Support drainage investigations and surveys for the team.
- Produce maps and technical information using relevant software.
- Order and coordinate repairs and works on the drainage network.
- Perform lone working at highway sites during surveys.
- Conduct walked inspections in all weather conditions.

About You
To apply, you must meet the following criteria:
Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent, e.g. BTEC in Civil Engineering or A-Levels grades A-C in relevant subjects) or
- Extensive demonstrable experience (with a commitment to achieve essential qualifications).
- Experience in:
- Accurately capturing, storing, and retrieving information for organisational and customer needs.
- Using IT in a design/business environment (e.g. Microsoft Office)—including technical/non-technical reports, map interpretation, and engineering drawing experience.
- Providing technical advice or drawings.
- Engaging with customers (attending/exhibiting at meetings).
- Strong verbal & written communication skills, organisation and IT proficiency (including learning new service-specific systems).
Preferred Experience
- Background in engineering environments (e.g., design, maintenance, highways legislation, administration).
