Description

The Faculty of Creative & Culinary Arts, Animal Science, Automotive and Technology at Coleg Ceredigion is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative and forward-thinking Creative Media Technician to support the delivery of Media and Art provision at our Aberystwyth Campus.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled individual with a passion for creative media and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Working closely with staff and learners, you will provide technical support across a range of media activities, ensuring equipment, software and resources are maintained and ready for teaching and learning.

As Creative Media Technician, you will support practical media production by undertaking video shooting, capture, editing and export processes. You will also assist in the operation, maintenance and management of media equipment and facilities, helping to create an effective learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Provide support to the Creative Media and Art teams to assist management, maintenance and security of AV equipment
  • Provide advice, guidance and support for both hardware and software issues raised by staff and learners. To identify and fix software and hardware faults quickly and efficiently with central support where required
  • Carry out the installation and configuration of all new computer hardware in relation to your area of responsibility to ensure operation to the highest quality standard
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, complying with Health and Safety regulations
  • Prepare, maintain and update relevant Health & Safety documentation such as Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, COSHH records and equipment maintenance records, in liaison with course teams
  • Participate in continued education of all Apple products and services to ensure the highest level of advice and guidance is provided

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Minimum Level 3 (A Level /BTEC National Diploma) Qualification or 3 years industry experience in related area
  • GCSE English or O Level Minimum Grade C or CSE Grade 1 equivalent
  • GCSE Mathematics or O Level Minimum Grade C or CSE Grade 1 equivalent
  • Appropriate Health & Safety training (or willingness to undertake appropriate training)
  • Recent and relevant experience of working with Apple technology
  • Be competent in the use of the following equipment: Digital cameras for stills and video, editing and animation software
  • Good communicator with diplomacy and tact
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to work harmoniously with students and colleagues
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work flexibly

Desirable

  • BA Hons/HNC/HND in related area
  • First Aid qualification (If you are not First Aid qualified, a willingness to undertake training as soon as possible)
  • A good understanding of the technical support role in Further & Higher Education.
  • Willingness to drive college minibus and undertake appropriate training
