HGV Technician Supervisor – Chiltern Depot, Dunstable

About the Role
Our prestigious Chiltern Depot in Dunstable is seeking an experienced HGV Technician Supervisor to lead a shift team. You’ll supervise, diagnose, and oversee vehicle management, ensuring total operational efficiency.
Shifts & Pay
- Hours: 44 hrs per week (Mon-Fri 06:00–16:00 OR 12:00–22:00 & rolling covers).
- Unpaid break: 1 hour lunch daily (saturnality observed Fridays).
- Pay: £23.50/hour, with overtime at time and a half.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate shift technicians, balancing workloads efficiently.
- Collaborate with the Workshop Manager on staffing, training schedules and KPI alignment.
- Perform advanced diagnostics, repair, and servicing of all vehicle types.
- Active participation in call-out and breakdown recovery duties when required.
- Mastery of diagnostic equipment in adherence to workshop standards.
- Execute scheduled safety inspections, identifying and reporting rectification needs.
- Maintain accurate job cards—document every repair in detail.

Essential Qualifications & Skills
- C&G NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicle Repair (or equivalent).
- Extensive electrical and mechanical experience—10+ years preferred.
- Deep understanding of Health & Safety (H&S) practices in workshop environments.
- Valid UK driving licence (HGV credential a strong advantage).
