Senior Technologist – Wovens (Quality & Product Engineering)

We’re searching for a Technologist specialising in Wovens to join our Quality & Product Engineering team. You’ll play a pivotal role in driving quality excellence, cost efficiency, and supplier alignment while embedding our new quality framework. Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing quality assurance across product categories
- Collaborating with BMD (Buy and Merchandising): **D'absence of the Technical Manager
- Continuous improvement through data-driven decision-making
- Leading risk assessment and compliance initiatives
- Mentoring the quality and BMD teams to set industry benchmarks

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Contribution
- Translate business strategy into actionable quality objectives
- Represent the quality team in cross-business forums
2. Customer & Market Insight
- Conduct store/DC visits, market benchmarking, and leveraging customer insight tools
- Drive product improvements aligning with customer expectations
3. Quality Management
- Own and embed the Quality Framework, ensuring compliance with legal and brand standards
- optimization of value chain processes
4. BMD Collaboration
- Align quality processes with departments’ critical paths
- Support trading activities to meet customer needs
5. Product & Manufacturing Expertise
- Apply specialist knowledge in:
- Materials and construction
- Pattern technology & grading
- Supplier capabilities
- Balance cost, quality, and commercial value
6. Risk & Continuous Improvement
- Lead category-wide risk assessments
- Implement corrective actions and embed proactive measurement frameworks
7. Technical Leadership
- Mentor the quality and BMD teams
- Enhance decision-making and purchasing practices
- Improve product consistency
8. Innovation & Operational Excellence
- Promote the adoption of new technologies and feedback loops
- Oversee test-and-learn initiatives
- Oversee packaging, labelling, and transit compliance
Who You Are
Technical Knowledge Requirements
✔ Specialist in wovens construction, materials, and product performance ✔ Hands-on manufacturing experience with a keen eye for fitness-for-purpose ✔ Proficient in:
- Leading pre-production meetings
- Converting product requirements into technical specs
- Interpreting test reports and making commercially balanced decisions ✔ Foundational expertise in:
- Risk assessment
- Regulatory compliance
- Embedding quality standards across the supply chain

✔ Ability to coordinate with Buying teams on:
- Product engineering

Experience & Qualifications
✅ Previous experience as a Technologist in a major retailer (preferably New Look) ✨ Product specialist within a specific category 🎓 Appropriate Technical Qualification or degree (relevant to fashion/apparel technology)
