Job Description

The role

Join a Tier 1, market-leading Tech-Digital team trusted by the world's most ambitious companies and investors. We deliver strategic counsel on AI, data, cybersecurity, and emerging tech across every major market. Our lawyers are renowned for solving the toughest cross-border challenges and setting industry benchmarks. Work alongside leading practitioners in complex commercial transactions, outsourcing, tech M&A, and tech public policy on matters that shape the future of digital business.

We advise many of the world's leading companies on public and private M&A, disposals, demergers, joint ventures, restructurings and [high value commercial contracts] with a particular focus on complex, cross-border transactions. Our team works closely with antitrust specialists on merger control matters and collaborates with experts across finance, capital markets, litigation, tax, pensions, employment and real estate to deliver integrated advice. We combine international deal execution skills with deep local market knowledge and sector-focused expertise. Our practice also covers corporate governance, regulatory compliance, intellectual property and technology advisory, providing clients with comprehensive support across all aspects of corporate activity.

Who you will work with

  • Senior executives, boards, and legal teams shaping strategy and risk management at the highest level.
  • The world's most ambitious companies and investors.
  • Cross-functional client teams, including engineers, policy experts, and innovators, to deliver practical solutions on AI, data, digital governance and regulation, and cybersecurity.
  • Clifford Chance global lawyers in IP, employment, antitrust, litigation, finance, corporate, private capital, tax, capital markets, and energy.
  • Researchers, senior knowledge professionals, and thought leadership teams across the firm.
  • Regulators and policymakers, influencing the evolution of digital law worldwide.

What you will be responsible for

  • Lead high-stakes, cross-border mandates in AI, data, and technology regulation.
  • Mentor, inspire and lead teams, driving excellence.
  • Build and manage client relationships, driving business development and thought leadership.
  • Design and execute legal strategies for transformative tech transactions and partnerships.
  • Advise on AI governance, digital compliance, and regulatory frameworks that set global standards.
  • Design and implement international data protection and digital compliance programmes.
  • Develop and execute data transfer strategies and risk assessments for global operations.
  • Advise on the prevention and management of cyber incidents, regulatory investigations, and related disputes.
  • Translate complexity into clear, actionable advice for senior stakeholders.
  • Grow the firm’s profile through thought leadership, media engagement, and strategic client development.

Qualifications

Your experience

  • 6+ years’ post-qualification experience at a top-tier international law firm or in-house.
  • Deep expertise in cross-border technology regulation, AI, data, and cybersecurity.
  • A track record of leading complex projects and advising at board or executive level.
  • Exceptional drafting, analytical, and client-facing skills.
  • Strategic vision and commercial instinct; able to anticipate and navigate regulatory change.
  • Experience engaging with UK/EU digital regulators, regulation, and shaping responses to new laws.
  • Outstanding academic credentials and a reputation for first-rate legal skills.
  • Strong exposure to collaborating across multiple countries.
  • Experience in public policy or working closely with engineering and research teams.

This role follows our 'balanced' hybrid working approach and as long as business needs allow, you will be supported to work in a hybrid way with the expectation of working from the office for a minimum of 50% of your time.
