The Recipe (About the Role)
As a Technology Business Partner, you will act as the key link between business functions and technology, translating strategic goals and operational priorities into outcome-focused, technology roadmaps. You will evaluate options, build robust business cases, and oversee delivery and ongoing guidance through internal teams and external partners—prioritising standard solutions before considering customisation.
You will own data-led resolutions, process standardisation, and the adoption of modern, scalable platforms, helping the organisation grow its brands through the effective use of advanced technologies.
Over the next three to five years, you will play a critical role in accelerating digital enablement across the organisation—improving process maturity, driving automation and evaluation, reducing technical debt, and embedding strong change and adoption practices that scale with continued growth.
- Act as the key technology partner for business areas, comprehending goals, obstacles and priorities to shape high-value solutions
- Gather and prioritise requirements, constructively testing to align with best practice, feasibility and business value
- Translate needs into clear solution options, including process improvement, configuration, integration or custom development, with defined costs, risks and timelines
- Develop business cases and recommendations with clear benefits, success measures and return on value
- Maintain a technology roadmap and outcome-focused backlog, aligned to business priorities and delivery capacity
- Manage priorities and stakeholder expectations, overseeing delivery through to high-quality user acceptance testing and formal sign-off
- Oversee application lifecycle management, including upgrades, optimisation and retirement, ensuring systems remain effective
- Coordinate application help, driving timely incident resolution and owning root cause evaluation for recurring or high-impact issues
- Maintain clear documentation and communicate system changes, releases and updates to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Manage third-party suppliers, driving service quality, performance and value
- Drive adoption of systems and best practice through training, guidance and structured change approaches
- Enable user-led automation and development within governed standards, ensuring security, consistency and data quality
- Promote standardisation and simplification through greater use of core platform capabilities and reduced customisation
- Improve data quality and visibility to advocate performance tracking and forecasting
- Identify opportunities for automation and use of artificial intelligence to improve productivity and service delivery
- Advocate scalable, integrated solutions through clear integration approaches and future-ready design
- Build digital capability across the business, developing strong user communities and consistent ways of working

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
