About the Role
Role: Device Management Infrastructure Engineer
The Device Management Engineer oversees the technical management of the organisation’s end-user device estate, including:
- Operating system deployments
- Application management
- Security
- Centralised device management platforms
This proactive, self-driven role requires expertise in enterprise device management technologies, with a focus on service improvement, process optimisation, and enhanced user experience. Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, the role provides senior technical support for device incidents, collaborating with the IT Service Desk and wider IT teams. The Engineer is accountable for operational delivery and continuous improvement of device management services.
Responsibilities

Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business users and Group IT teams, acting as a key liason between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Facilitate communication and knowledge-sharing between IT and the broader business to improve service adoption.

Meeting & Project Participation:
- Attend weekly team meetings and project progress updates, aligning with the technical roadmap.
- Liaise with third-party suppliers to support operational and project delivery.

Change Management:
- Adhere to change control procedures, submitting and presenting proposed changes to the Change Advisory Board (CAB).

- Work with Device Management, Infrastructure, and Service Desk Team Leaders on:
- Device standards

- Support new hardware releases, OS deployments, and enterprise application deliveries.
- Assist in pilot phases, UAT device builds, and phased rollouts, providing feedback on challenges and recommendations.

- Drive continuous operational enhancement for end-user devices, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
- Improve service quality through structured documentation, technical guidance, and user enablement.

- Maintain accurate, well-structured operational documentation for:
- Device management platforms
- Deployment processes
- Common support scenarios
- Act as a subject matter expert in:
- Endpoint security
- Application deployment
- Device configuration platforms

Qualifications & Experience
Key Skills & Experience – Essential
Endpoint & Device Management
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Microsoft Intune for:
- Windows device enrolment
- Configuration profiles
- Compliance policies
- Application deployment & reporting
- Jamf Pro for macOS and iOS/iPadOS, including:
- Device enrolment
- Configuration profiles
- Application deployment
- Security controls
- SOTI MobiControl for Android management, including:
- Policy enforcement
- Remote actions
- Device lockdown modes
- Enterprise application deployment
- Microsoft Intune for:
- Solid understanding of modern device management (MDM/MAM) across Windows, Apple, and Android.

Patching & Update Management
- Experience managing OS and application patching for end-user devices, including:
- Windows Update for Business (WUfB)
- macOS & iOS update management
- Android OS updates via MDM
- Knowledge of:
- Patch compliance reporting
- Risk-based patching
- Remediation workflows
- Ability to assess patch impact, support testing, and coordinate minimally disruptive deployments.
Application Packaging & Security
- Experience:
- Packaging, deploying, and maintaining enterprise applications on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.
- Working with application owners and vendors to resolve compatibility issues.
- Understanding of:
- Application security controls (e.g., permissions, update channels, secure baselines).
Endpoint Security
- Hands-on experience with:
- Microsoft Defender (including Defender for Endpoint and components within Microsoft Defender for Cloud) for:
- Device protection
- Alerting
- Security posture monitoring
- Integrating L1 CIS security standards.
- Microsoft Defender (including Defender for Endpoint and components within Microsoft Defender for Cloud) for:
- Coverage of:
- Malware protection
- Device compliance
- Conditional access integration
- Threat detection & response
Preferred Skills
- Experience with additional endpoint platforms/tooling, such as:
- MECM/SCCM
- Workspace ONE
- Exposure to shared or kiosk device scenarios, e.g., retail or frontline deployments.
- Experience with:
- Windows Autopilot
- Apple Automated Device Enrolment (ADE)
- Android Zero Touch (beyond basic use cases).
