Technology Maintenance & Project Engineer – TfL Tunnels & Pump Stations
Location: Blackwall Tunnel, London – site-based, 5 days per week Hours: 12-month fixed-term contract, 45 hours per week Salary: £55,000–£65,000 per year + private healthcare + £5.9k annual car allowance

About the Role
We are seeking a Technology Maintenance & Project Engineer to join the TfL Tunnels & Pump Stations team at our Blackwall Tunnel site. In this position, you will act as the key point of contact between:
- The main contract team
- Our technology subcontractor, Cubic
- TfL stakeholders
- Other technical partners
Additionally, you will play a critical role in coordinating and overseeing the technology workstream for a major London transport infrastructure project.
Responsibilities
As a Technology Maintenance & Project Engineer, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Managing the relationship with Cubic, ensuring all delivery, performance, and contractual commitments are met
- Coordinating with TfL and cross-functional technical teams to guarantee seamless integration of technology with civil, electrical, mechanical, and SCADA systems
- Providing technical oversight of communications, control systems, monitoring systems, and networked infrastructure
- Reviewing and validating technical submissions, designs, test documents, and commissioning evidence for compliance with industry standards
- Supporting the emergency response to critical incidents and coordinating rapid restoration of system functionality in a safe manner

Requirements
This role is ideal for applicants who:
- Hold a degree or equivalent in a technology-focused engineering discipline (e.g., electrical, mechanical, telecoms, or control systems), or relevant experience in highways/traffic technology
- Have proven experience managing subcontractors, preferably in technology or systems integration
- Have a strong understanding of tunnel technologies, communications networks, and control systems
- Are self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and can build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Hold a valid full driving licence and can travel to sites as required
