The Associated Press is an independent global news organization dedicated to factual reporting. Founded in 1846, AP today remains the most trusted source of fast, accurate, unbiased news in all formats and the essential provider of the technology and services vital to the news business. More than half the world's population sees AP journalism every day.

Why This Role Matters

The Video Technology Manager defines the strategic design and evolution of video systems at AP. This includes cloud-based video workflows, live studios, and live operations supporting AP’s multi-channel services for customers. The role also provides advanced (Level 3) support for video systems and works closely with AP’s video event business, AP360.

The Video Technology Manager will be part of the team responsible for defining and updating a comprehensive 5-year technology roadmap and delivering key video projects. This roadmap sets the strategic direction for video infrastructure, cloud-based workflows, and emerging technologies. By collaborating with editorial, revenue, and AP360 teams, the manager will gather requirements, deliver projects, and ensure the roadmap aligns with AP’s overall business objectives. The goal is to stay ahead of industry trends, integrate innovative solutions, and maintain AP’s competitive edge in video technology.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee an international team responsible for supporting AP’s editorial video and audio workflows.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for AP’s cloud-based Media Asset Management (MAM) system and editing applications.
  • Gather requirements from editorial, revenue, and AP360 teams to support the development of the 5-year technology roadmap.
  • Collaborate with editorial experts on camera specifications, field-based workflows, including remote operations and multi-camera productions.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and present recommendations to technology leadership on potential benefits to AP.
  • Align video system design with AP's cloud-first technology strategy where practical and cost-effective.
  • Define, implement, and continuously improve AP’s live video production workflows.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies such as cloud production platforms, virtualized control rooms, and remote production (REMI) workflows to enhance AP’s live capabilities.
  • Participate in on-call coverage as needed for incidents outside normal working hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
  • Train technical operations, technical support and editorial staff as required.
  • Assist AP360 in identifying appropriate technology solutions to support their operations.
  • Work closely with AP360 to support live-event production needs, from early planning through technical execution.
  • Establish a close working relationship with the network engineering team as video-over-IP technologies are deployed on the AP network.
  • Work closely with Information Security to ensure AP’s security standards are upheld when designing and deploying video systems.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
