Role Overview

We are seeking a Technology Pipeline Manager to join our IT Portfolio & Technical Initiative team at Formula 1. Reporting into the Head of Portfolio & Technical Initiatives, this role focuses on shaping and managing the technology pipeline, ensuring smooth transitions between stages across the initiative lifecycles.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Pipeline Management

  • Maintain the technology project pipeline, ensuring visibility and transparency across all stages.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define scope, shape initiatives, and develop high-level milestone plans.
  • Track progress and report on initiatives from ideation through business case development, contracting, and post-delivery marketing activation support.

Workshop Facilitation

  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops to identify problems, capture needs, refine early requirements, and create use cases in pipeline stages.

Business Case Development

  • Guide initiative owners in building robust business cases aligned with strategic objectives and business value outcomes, validating assumptions, benefits, and costs.

Contracting Coordination

  • Collaborate with procurement and legal teams for timely contracting, ensuring all documentation and approvals are in place.
  • Monitor contracting processes, escalating risks or delays to stakeholders.

Governance & Process

  • Facilitate stage-gate reviews and ensure compliance with governance standards.
  • Develop and refine processes for project intake, prioritisation, and approval.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with internal partnership teams, external technology partners (sponsors), business units, technical teams, and procurement to align priorities and timelines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for F1 project owners during early lifecycle stages.

Analysis & Reporting

  • Provide regular reporting on pipeline status, risks, and resource implications.
  • Support senior leaders by preparing summaries and recommendations.

Qualifications & Experience

Personal Qualities (Essential)

  • Strong team player with experience managing matrix teams of internal/external members.
  • Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative communicator with precise attention to detail.
  • Self-starter adept at motivating and influencing others.

Desirable Qualities

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity to achieve successful outcomes.

Experience (Essential)

  • Managing concurrent projects of varying scale and complexity.
  • Experience in complex strategic partner (sponsor) relationships and third-party supplier management.
  • Track record in fast-paced, evolving environments.

Desirable Experience

  • Technology solution implementation in media and sports industries.

Qualifications (Essential)

  • Trained in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, PRINCE 2, PMP, APM, MSP or equivalent).
  • Degree educated.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Awareness of structured business analysis methods (e.g., BABOK or similar).

Career Progression

Potential advancement includes roles in Partnerships Management or Project Management.
