Volunteer for a startup bringing Africa's informal economy online through the power of community and AI! 🌍📱
Afro Ubuntu TradeNet connects African informal traders to opportunities, markets, and credit through AI-powered technology.
The African informal economy forms a massive foundation for the continent's financial landscape, yet its traders remain largely unconnected, unbanked, and underserved. Operating at the edge of the formal economy, millions of micro-entrepreneurs lack the credit visibility, trade intelligence, and verified transaction histories required to attract investment or scale their businesses. Because their daily trade operations are entirely offline and fragmented, it is incredibly difficult to unlock cross-border trade corridors, leaving small-scale traders cut off from larger global markets and fair economic opportunities.
Afro Ubuntu TradeNet addresses this isolation by deploying an AI-powered B2B digital platform designed to bring Africa’s informal market online and bridge the gap to global trade. Guided by the African philosophy of Ubuntu ("I am because we are"), the platform integrates directly with WhatsApp, meeting traders on the everyday communication tool they already use. By safely digitizing transactions, Afro Ubuntu TradeNet builds systemic trust, accelerates trade intelligence, and establishes vital credit visibility for historically marginalized business owners. This seamless, data-first technology infrastructure removes geographic barriers, connects informal micro-entrepreneurs to fairer markets, and fuels sustainable grassroots entrepreneurship across the continent.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
