Our national Technology Services team is cellular for a Technology Services Consultant to deliver cutting-edge solutions in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV), Smart Cities, Mobility, and transport technology projects. We serve a diverse client base, including:

  • National/Combined Authorities
  • Local Authorities
  • Contractors
  • Private sector organisations
  • Internal and international AECOM businesses

Your work will span strategic advisory, technical research, design, and engineering—directly shaping the future of mobility.


Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

  • Technical Leadership: Deliver ITS, CAV, Smart Cities, and mobility solutions across the project lifecycle—from feasibility and design to performance assessment.

  • Specialist Consultancy:

    • Provide expert design and advisory services for ITS, C-ITS, Mobility as a Service (MaaS), and autonomous systems.
    • Lead bids, proposals, and project delivery, ensuring technical excellence in smart motorways, control centres, telecommunications networks, enforcement systems, and traffic management.

  • Innovation & Scouting:

Key Deliverables

As a Consultant, you’ll ensure projects meet: ✅ Client excellence (tailored solutions for National/Combined Authorities) ✅ Technical innovation (global leadership in emerging transport tech) ✅ Cultural impact (diverse, inclusive, growth-focused teams)


Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree (or equivalent) in:
    • Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering
    • Computer Science/Maths/Physics
  • Industry experience in:
    • ITS, Smart Cities, Connected/Autonomated Vehicles, or MaaS
  • Technical mindset:
    • Research, analytics, or software exploitation skills (e.g., integration with AI systems)
    • Commercial awareness of the transport tech landscape’s trends
  • Hybrid work agility for client-site flexibility.

Desirable Bonus

  • Knowledge of signal processing, network simulation, or system integration tools (e.g., [(PyCats)] ecosystem).
  • Proficiency in urban transportation sector challenges beyond traditional IT scopes.
