Purpose of the Role

Colas Ltd. are looking for a Technology Services Technician who will be part of the Area 9 Maintenance & Response contract with Colas, working on behalf of National Highways. The candidate will deliver both Cyclical and Reactive works they are assigned and will be responsible for safeguarding the welfare and health and safety of themselves and those working around them. They will take an active role in ensuring their own skills and knowledge are up to date and fit for purpose.

Main Responsibilities

  • Health and Safety: Responsible for Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities.
  • Work Delivery: Deliver technology cyclical works and response over the course of their shift.
  • Reporting: Report directly to the Technology supervisor on health and safety and progress during shifts they are working on and report to Technology Manager / Supervisor on activities undertaken during shifts they work.
  • Operation of Equipment: Operate small items of plant and other heavier equipment to carry out the works e.g. compressors, Hiab crane and electrical saws etc.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as may be reasonably required.
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday shift pattern alternating from days and nights as required.
  • Environmental Consideration: Ensure all activities are undertaken with due regard for the environment, to prevent pollution, comply with legal and corporate requirements and minimise environmental impact.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience within Highways.
  • Full UK driving licence required for this role.
  • HERS Sector 8 relevant to role and LGV C / CE are desirable.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Forward thinking and desire to work collaboratively to find the root cause of issues and deliver a proactive maintenance approach.

Package Description

  • Salary between £32,000 - £35,000 (dependent on experience and licences)
  • 45 hour week Mon - Fri
