About The Role
As the M25 Technology Supervisor for Balfour Beatty, you hold overall responsibility for the successful delivery of all maintenance works across your geographical area, serving as the primary point of contact for shift-based operations. Leading a team of engineers and subcontractors, you ensure efficient supervision, safety, and quality for all Technology network activity.
Your core operational duties involve the end-to-end management of routine and cyclical works, which includes:
- Pre-scouting lane closure areas
- Inspecting roadside defects to determine exact rectification requirements
- Participating in the development of an achievable Annual Maintenance Plan
You ensure sufficient resources are in place to deliver all works safely and on time, while securing all necessary information and raising essential permits prior to commencement.
To maintain strict safety compliance, you review, assess, and brief technical method statements, delivering daily shift briefings that outline methodology, hazards, and control measures, followed by detailed end-of-shift debriefs to log lessons learned. You hold accountability for your team's administrative discipline by supporting the use of mobile data devices for accurate record-keeping, raising Subcontractor instructions (SCIs) as required, and updating the Maintenance Management System (MMS) with real-time data.
Furthermore, you oversee routine vehicle checks, maintain accurate driving records, and manage vehicle or plant defect reporting in strict alignment with Connect Plus Services (CPS) procedures to drive continuous operational improvement and keep the network resilient.
What you'll be doing
- Ensure efficient supervision of all work activities, including that of subcontractors.
- Ensure all required information is available prior to works commencing, including raising permits where necessary.
- Scout defects to determine exact requirements for rectification.
- Plan routine/cyclical works through pre-scouting areas before closures.
- Update the Maintenance Management System to capture all relevant data of works activities.
- Ensure sufficient resources are in place to deliver all works activities safely and on time.
- Prepare and deliver daily work briefings to operatives and subcontractors, outlining methodology, hazards, risks, and control measures.
- Deliver detailed debriefs at the end of each shift to identify issues and incorporate lessons learned into future activities.
- Support the use of data devices amongst the team to ensure accurate input for reporting and record-keeping.
- Support routine vehicle checks, maintain accurate driving records, and manage vehicle/plant defect reporting and rectification in line with CPS procedures.
- Participate in the development of the Annual Maintenance plan to ensure it is accurate and achievable.
- Raise permits as required.
- Raise Subcontractor instructions (SCI’s) as required.

Who we're looking for
- Experience of working with the NRTS Contractor.
- Able to work in different areas of the network and be flexible on working approaches.
- Appropriate CSCS/ECS qualification.
- SMSTS/SSSTS.
- Experience in the delivery of a highway’s maintenance operations or similar transferable experience.
- Team leadership and management experience driving performance and productivity.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong customer-focused mindset.
