TechOps Lead

Role Overview

📍 Location: Purley (hybrid, two days a week, onsite parking available) 💰 Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + benefits

We are partnering with a fast-growing, venture-backed technology business to appoint a TechOps Lead, responsible for critical technical operations.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing hands-on technical problem-solving with leadership responsibility. You’ll lead a small team while remaining actively engaged in technology, helping to build processes, improve reliability, drive technical standards, and foster a more proactive operational environment.

This is not a traditional IT support role—you must thrive in operational technology environments, where infrastructure, networks, connected devices, monitoring platforms, and real-world systems converge.

Key Responsibilities

The TechOps Lead will take end-to-end ownership of a distributed technology estate, ensuring systems remain operational, reliable, secure, and scalable. You will:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of technical operations engineers
  • Own operational processes, runbooks, escalation procedures, and technical standards
  • Manage ticketing workflows, prioritisation, root cause analysis, and service improvements
  • Drive monitoring, alerting, and preventative maintenance initiatives
  • Maintain hands-on involvement in diagnosing complex issues, supporting deployments, and improving monitoring capabilities
  • Serve as the technical authority for the function

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
