Our partner is seeking a Telco Cloud Field Engineer to support telecommunications providers in transitioning to cloud-native, software-defined infrastructure. This role works across 5G, NFV, MEC, and edge computing, combining solution architecture, consulting, and hands-on engineering with leading open-source technologies like OpenStack, Kubernetes, and Ceph.
Applications and next steps are handled directly by our partner employer.
About the Role
As a Telco Cloud Field Engineer, you will:
- Design, implement, and optimize scalable cloud platforms supporting VNF, CNF, NFV, MEC, and SDN workloads for next-gen telecom networks.
- Translate customer requirements into cloud architectures using open-source tools and modern infrastructure best practices.
- Serve as a technical consultant for telecom providers, advising on cloud solutions, architecture, and deployment strategies.
- Deploy and optimize private, hybrid, and multi-tenant cloud environments (OpenStack, Kubernetes, MAAS, Ceph).
- Automate deployments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and scripting (e.g., Python).
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring smooth customer adoption of cloud-native solutions.
- Collaborate with global teams to refine products and platform innovations based on field feedback.
- Shape future cloud and telecommunications platforms through technical discussions and customer collaboration.
Accountabilities
- Architect and deliver scalable cloud-native telco infrastructure supporting virtualised network functions (VNF), containerised network functions (CNF), NFV, MEC, and SDN.
- Translate customer needs into enterprise-grade cloud architectures leveraging open-source technologies.
- Provide technical sales consultancy on cloud solutions, including pre-sales engagements and proof of concept support.
- Deploy and optimise cloud environments across hybrid, private, and multi-tenant setups (e.g., OpenStack, Kubernetes, MAAS, Ceph).
- Implement IaC via Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent to streamline deployments.
- Diagnose and resolve software issues identified during customer rollouts.
- Support customer onboarding and production readiness to accelerate adoption of cloud-native platforms.
- Engage with internal engineering teams to incorporate customer feedback and refine product capabilities.
- Influence industry trends by participating in discussions around 5G, MEC, cloud optimisations, and emerging telco architectures.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
