RAD is redefining what modern vessels can do by combining electric propulsion, autonomy, and intelligent system control into high-performance marine technology. We build advanced drive systems and AXON, an onboard autonomy and control platform that forms the core architecture for smarter, more capable vessels. Working closely with vessel builders and operators, RAD supports the next generation of crewed and uncrewed vessels across commercial and specialist applications. Joining us means contributing to cutting-edge marine innovation with real-world impact.
We are looking for a hands-on systems integration and communications engineer to support the development, integration and delivery of advanced electric and autonomous maritime systems. You will work across hardware, software and communications technologies to bring complex systems into reliable operational use. This role sits at the intersection of systems engineering, networking, communications, software and electrical integration. You will contribute across the full engineering lifecycle, from requirements definition through to testing, trials and operational deployment.
Key responsibilities
Systems integration and engineering
- Lead and support integration of hardware, software, control systems, networks, sensors and communications equipment
- Define and manage system requirements, ensuring traceability through testing and validation
- Develop system architectures, interface definitions and integration documentation
- Integrate onboard and remote communication systems (LOS, RF, Cellular, Satellite)

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
