Telecom Project Engineer – Glasgow, Scotland
(Onsite – 5 Days/Week) for a global IT service provider
(Full UK Driving Licence Mandatory)
Contract
- Duration: 6 Months
- Start: Immediate
- Clearance: BPSS Clearance Required
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of enterprise telecom infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and delivering network projects while working closely with field engineers, commissioning engineers, customers, and project managers. The role involves configuring network equipment, conducting site surveys, creating technical documentation, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver telecom infrastructure projects
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain routers, switches, and network equipment
- Conduct site surveys and support installation planning
- Produce technical documentation, network diagrams, and project handover documents
- Prepare Health & Safety documentation, including RAMS and POW RA
- Work closely with Project Managers, Field Engineers, and Commissioning Engineers throughout the project lifecycle
- Support network implementation, testing, and customer acceptance
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in compliance with quality and safety standards

Mandatory Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in telecom project engineering or network implementation
- Hands-on experience with Cisco networking (Routing & Switching)
- Experience with Nokia SAR-H and Nokia NFM-P
- Experience with LAN, WAN, MPLS, and enterprise IP networks
- Experience using Microsoft Visio for network diagrams
- Strong troubleshooting and implementation experience
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Eligible to work in the UK
- BPSS Clearance (or willing to undergo screening)
- Willing to work 5 days onsite in Glasgow and travel across Scotland when required
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in telecom infrastructure, utilities, rail, or critical infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of XTran transport technology
- Experience producing HLD/LLD documentation
- Health & Safety certification (IOSH or equivalent)
- CCNP certification
