Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled and technically capable Telecoms Engineer to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate telecoms and connectivity services across multiple product sets. This is a hands-on, hybrid role: day-to-day, you will be installing structured cabling and WiFi access points, setting up hosted phone systems, coordinating orders, and diagnosing/resolving faults on customer sites.

This role suits someone with a solid grounding in telecoms installation and network troubleshooting who enjoys hands-on technical work, is comfortable working independently on customer sites, and takes pride in getting the detail right.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate and test structured cabling (Cat5/Cat6/Cat6a) to a high standard, including first and second fix, patching and labelling.
  • Install and maintain WiFi access points, ensuring correct placement, cabling, power (PoE) and connectivity checks.
  • Carry out network troubleshooting, including basic router/switch configuration and connectivity checks, to diagnose and resolve faults on site.
  • Proactively communicate with customers regarding appointment times, delays, or changes to scope.
  • Ensure equipment, materials and site access are in place ahead of each visit, keeping job logs and internal systems accurate and up to date.
  • Install Hosted Phone Systems to customers' specifications and satisfaction.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot telecoms and connectivity faults, escalating where necessary.
  • Liaise with third-party engineers and subcontractors to ensure work is delivered to specification and on schedule.
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, faults, and resolutions, including photos and completion sign-off where required. This includes site survey documents and risk assessments.
  • Identify and flag risks or delays to delivery timescales and support resolution to keep projects on track.
  • Follow health & safety procedures at all times when working on customer sites.
  • Coordinate orders with the various relevant stakeholders.
  • Update CRM with relevant information and ensure accuracy.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
