Business Developer – Howdens Joinery

Join Howdens as a Business Developer and play a key role in growing your local depot. We’re looking for someone who enjoys speaking to people face-to-face and on the phone, building relationships, and driving business.

You’ll:

  • Introduce new trade customers to Howdens
  • Stay close to existing accounts
  • Spot opportunities to grow spend by understanding customer needs and projects

Working as part of a busy depot team, you’ll:

  • Support sales activity by generating leads, arranging appointments, and keeping the pipeline moving
  • Work closely with Kitchen Sales Designers and Territory Sales Representatives
  • Convert conversations into opportunities and opportunities into sales

Key Requirements

We’re looking for:

  • A confident communicator comfortable speaking to customers on the phone and face-to-face
  • Someone who enjoys building relationships and turning conversations into opportunities
  • A commercially minded individual with a focus on driving sales and adding value
  • Self-motivated, positive, and proactive
  • Organised and reliable, able to manage customer activity and track pipelines
  • Comfortable working to call targets and activity levels
  • Experience in telesales, account management, or a customer-focused role is helpful

Key Responsibilities

Your role will involve:

  • Calling existing trade customers to build long-term relationships and grow future business
  • Using customer data to spot inactivity and bring accounts back on track
  • Managing a targeted customer list and achieving daily call activity levels
  • Keeping up to date with customer projects to identify opportunities to add value and drive repeat business
  • Arranging surveys and appointments for Kitchen Sales Designers
  • Promoting products, offers, and events to keep customers engaged
  • Supporting administration, including invoicing and general depot tasks
  • Working closely with the wider team to help the depot hit its targets and deliver great service
