Business Developer - Howdens Joinery

About the Role

Join the UK’s No1 Trade Kitchen Supplier as a Business Developer at Howdens. You’ll play a crucial role in growing your local depot by driving business, introducing new trade customers, and building lasting relationships with existing ones. If you thrive on direct communication, enjoy telesales and account management, and are motivated by results and targets, this role could be perfect for you.


Working within a busy depot team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Generating leads
  • Arranging customer appointments
  • Supporting sales pipelines
  • Collaborating with Kitchen Sales Designers and Territory Sales Representatives to convert opportunities into sales

Key traits for success:

  • Confidence in engaging with customers, both in-person and over the phone
  • Strong ability to build rapport and ** drive sales**
  • Responsiveness to call targets and proactive attitude
  • Excellent organisation and creativity in spotting growth opportunities

Responsibilities

  • Call existing trade customers to nurture long-term relationships and secure future business
  • Use customer data to detect inactivity and reignite engagement
  • Achieve daily call activity targets with a targeted customer list
  • Stay updated on customer projects to identify opportunities for upselling or introducing new products
  • Arrange in-depot surveys and appointments for Kitchen Sales Designers
  • Promote products, special promotions, and upcoming events
  • Support depot administration, including invoicing and general operational tasks
  • Collaborate closely with the team to help depots meet sales targets and deliver exceptional customer service

Requirements

  • A natural communicator comfortable speaking to customers, verbally and in writing
  • Someone who enjoys consultative selling, building relationships, and turning opportunities into sales
  • Commercially savvy, with a focus on driving value for both Howdens and customers
  • Self-motivated, positive, and proactive – craving challenges and results
  • Highly organised, with the ability to methodically manage customer activity
  • Comfortable working under target-driven environments, whether for calls, visits, or outcomes
  • Experience in telesales, account management, or any other customer-focused role would be beneficial
