Description
Join LOCALiQ, part of Newsquest Media Group, and play a key role in helping local businesses grow through the power of trusted media brands such as the Echo.
This is a fast-paced, office-based sales role where you will speak directly with business owners across the region, taking a consultative approach to understand their goals and recommend tailored advertising solutions across our digital and print portfolio.
We're looking for individuals with the right attitude, drive, and ambition above all else. While sales experience is beneficial, it is not essential. We are open to speaking with people from a variety of backgrounds who can demonstrate strong communication skills, resilience, relationship-building ability, and a genuine desire to succeed.

This role is fully office-based in Basildon, working Monday to Friday during standard office hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate new business through proactive outbound calling and sales activity.
- Build and manage a healthy pipeline of prospective clients.
- Develop strong relationships with local business owners and decision-makers.
- Achieve and exceed individual revenue targets and KPIs.
- Manage and grow existing accounts, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
- Deliver a consultative sales approach by understanding client challenges and recommending effective advertising solutions.
- Build long-term partnerships with clients through exceptional service and communication.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure campaigns are delivered successfully.
- Stay up to date with market trends, industry developments, and LOCALiQ's products and services.
- Represent the Echo and LOCALiQ brands professionally, building trust and credibility with customers.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity and client interactions using internal systems.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Qualities
- A positive, can-do attitude and a genuine desire to succeed.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
- Driven, ambitious, and highly motivated by personal success and financial reward.
- Resilient and tenacious, with the ability to overcome objections and bounce back from setbacks.
- Confident speaking to people and building rapport over the phone.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to generating opportunities.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable working towards targets in a fast-paced sales environment.
- A team player who contributes positively to the wider office culture.
Experience & Knowledge
- Previous sales experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, account management, telesales, or other customer-facing roles would be welcomed.
- Ability to identify customer needs and provide suitable solutions.
- Strong customer service mindset with a focus on delivering value.
- Interest in digital marketing, advertising, or media sales would be beneficial.
- Understanding of consultative selling principles is desirable, but full training will be provided.
- Ability to commute to Basildon and work in a fully office-based environment.
