This is an exciting frontline role within West Northamptonshire Council’s Homelessness and Housing Solutions response. As a new unitary council, embedding a fresh structure, this is a great opportunity to join us as we develop staff and shape best practices in supporting people across our community while delivering exceptional service.
⚠️ Key Requirement: Role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS certificate. The Council is also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, expecting all staff to share this commitment.
What Will You Be Doing?
Working alongside the Homelessness & Housing Solutions Team, your responsibilities include:
- Managing occupants of interim and temporary accommodation, from move-ins, check-outs, rent accounting, and daily placement oversight.
- Ensuring all Council-owned accommodation is safe, clean, and well-maintained with an eye on cost-efficiency.
- Supporting customers during their placement, particularly in areas like:
- Housing Benefit guidance and applications
- Housing register navigation
- Other life-management challenges they may face
- Collaborating with internal teams, partners, and external organisations to deliver the very best outcomes for service users.
- Contributing to changes that positively impact lives.

About You
We’re looking for a candidate with:
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a customer-focused environment, capable of performing under pressure.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, alongside:
- Exceptional negotiation abilities
- Reliable problem-solving skills
- Skilful workload management and crucial prioritisation when needed.
- Self-motivation and the ability to act decisively in fast-paced situations.
- A valid driving licence and reliable access to a car (a non-negotiable requirement for this role).
