Job Title: Temporary Accommodation Specialist Project Officer

Salary Range: £42,060 - £44,685 p.a. inc. London weighting Contract: Fixed term/Secondment (12 months) Hours of Work: 36 hours per week Location: Civic centre and other locations from time to time

Help shape the future of homelessness services in Brent.

You will play a key role in delivering high-impact homelessness reduction initiatives. These initiatives are designed to:

  • Improve outcomes for residents.
  • Reduce the council’s reliance on costly temporary accommodation.
  • Accelerate the move into settled accommodation.

Core Responsibilities

Temporary Accommodation Specialist Project Officer will operate within Housing Needs & Support and delivery-focused roles, requiring:

  • Delivery of operational homelessness reduction programmes.
  • Frontline support to households moving out of temporary accommodations.
  • Coordination and mobilisation of acquired or leased properties.
  • Collaboration across housing supply, data, and operational delivery.
  • Managing multiply priorities while ensuring momentum, efficiency, and results.

Echoing the role's broad and cutting-edge responsibilities, the tasks include:

  • Support the delivery of programmes that reduce the use and cost of temporary accommodation.
  • Progress cases and remove barriers for community members to transition into suitable long-term housing more rapidly.
  • Coordinate mobilisation of newly acquired/leased properties to avoid delays.
  • Work closely with Housing Needs & Support, Property Services, Housing Management, landlords, and external partners.
  • Track performance metrics, create reports for governance and decision-making, and utilize data-driven insights to optimize programmes.
  • Accelerate move-on activities aimed at priority cohorts and high-cost placements.
  • Promote innovative housing solutions, such as:
    • Access to the Private Rented Sector (PRS).
    • Supported accommodation pathways.
  • Contribute to housing forums and “Find a Place” initiatives, ensuring accessibility to sustainable housing solutions.

  • Experience in homelessness, temporary accommodation, or housing services within a local authority or comparable setting.
  • Cohesion in fast-paced, delivery-driven environments, ensuring coordination, organization, and effective follow-through.
  • Colaboration and clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting data, tracking performance, and aiding evidence-based decision-making.
  • Ability to proactively solve issues, keeping delivery momentum alive.
