Job Description

RCT Council's Graduate Programme 2026

A Graduate Placement with Award-Winning RCT Council is a step towards an excellent career.

Making A Difference with RCT Council

This is an exciting and challenging time for RCT Council as we continue to provide high-quality services while delivering value for money. The role of local government in shaping the future of local communities is more important than ever. Working in Local Government offers some of the most intellectually stimulating challenges, as we provide services that affect thousands of lives in many different ways.

Maximise Your Potential

RCT Council is preparing to recruit to its Graduate Programme, offering fantastic opportunities to work in a vibrant environment, learn new and transferable skills, meet people from a range of backgrounds, and develop a professional career in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

All Graduate Officers will be supported to complete either a Level 4 Project Management qualification or job-related technical training (all fully funded) as part of the programme.

Education & Inclusion Services

This role sits within the Welsh in Education Strategic Plan (WESP) team of the Education & Inclusion Service. The WESP is a statutory document outlining the Council’s plans for increasing Welsh language provision within our schools, childcare settings, and wider communities. Key responsibilities include engaging with a range of stakeholders and implementing marketing strategies targeted at the promotion of Welsh language education and provision.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking an individual passionate about increasing and improving Welsh language provision in Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. This individual will play an integral role in successfully delivering the outcomes of the WESP 2022-2032 and the implementation of the new Welsh Language Education Bill, supporting Welsh Government’s Cymraeg 2050 strategy of a million Welsh speakers in Wales by 2050. This individual will work with the WESP Lead Officer, colleagues in the Welsh Language team, our schools, childcare providers, and community partners to ensure that opportunities to learn and engage with the Welsh language are maximised and fully embedded.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
