Temporary IT Support Assistant

Hays are working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in the Blackburn area to recruit a Temporary IT Support Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a busy school IT environment, supporting the delivery of technology services ahead of the new academic year.

The school is investing heavily in its IT infrastructure and requires additional support over the summer period to prepare classrooms, learning spaces, and student devices for September.

Your New Role

As a Temporary IT Support Assistant, you will work closely with the IT Manager and Network Manager to help prepare the academy for the start of the new academic year. Your duties will include:

  • Assisting with the setup, deployment, and installation of over 250 desktop PCs across classrooms and other areas of the school.
  • Moving, unpacking, and connecting IT equipment.
  • Performing basic hardware checks and ensuring devices are ready for use.
  • Supporting the IT team with technology rollouts and classroom preparations.
  • Providing friendly, first-line assistance to staff and new students during the September intake.
  • Assisting with general IT support tasks as directed by the IT and Network Managers.
  • Helping ensure all IT equipment is organised, labelled, and deployed efficiently.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
