Job Overview
Join an award-winning Payroll Team where you'll make an immediate impact, with the support to succeed.
We're looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our friendly and award-winning Payroll Team on a fixed-term contract for up to 6 months.
As part of our ongoing investment in the team, we're currently working on a number of internal projects focused on improving our systems, processes and overall client experience. To help support the team during this busy period, we're looking for an experienced payroll professional who can provide additional resource and become a valued member of the team.
This role would suit someone who enjoys the pace, variety and challenge of a bureau environment. You'll be managing your own portfolio of payroll clients, building relationships and helping us continue to deliver a fantastic service to our clients.
Whilst we're looking for someone with the experience and confidence to become productive relatively quickly, this definitely isn't a case of being left to fend for yourself. We'll provide a structured induction, training on our systems and processes, and pair you with a buddy to help you settle in. You'll work alongside our Senior Payroll Advisors and Payroll Manager, who will support you throughout your onboarding and beyond.
We're not looking for someone to simply "cover a gap". We're looking for someone who can become part of the team, share their experience, build great relationships with our clients, and make a genuine impact from the moment they join us.
Most importantly, you'll be joining a team that genuinely supports one another, shares knowledge and takes pride in delivering an exceptional service. And, not to brag (but they've earned it!), you'll be joining an award-winning Payroll Team, recognised as Payroll Team of the Year at the Yorkshire Accountancy Awards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
