Job Description
We are seeking a temporary Sales Assistant to join our Sports Direct store in Stevenage, United Kingdom. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic retail environment, delivering outstanding customer service whilst supporting the sales team. As a Sales Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring our customers have an engaging shopping experience whilst maintaining high standards of store presentation and stock management.

- Provide friendly and professional customer service, assisting customers with product selection and enquiries
- Process customer transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system, including cash handling and card payments
- Maintain store appearance by restocking shelves, arranging displays, and ensuring merchandise is presented to the highest standard
- Develop product knowledge across our sports and leisure range to make informed recommendations to customers
- Support the sales team in achieving store targets through proactive customer engagement and upselling
- Conduct regular stock checks and report discrepancies to management
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth store operations during busy periods
- Assist with store opening and closing procedures as required
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times
Qualifications
Required:
- Proven customer service experience in a retail or hospitality environment
- Strong communication and people skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse customers
- Reliable time keeping and commitment to scheduled shifts
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, busy retail environment
- Basic numeracy skills for cash handling and till operation
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and procedures

Desirable:
- Previous experience working in a sports retail or similar retail setting
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and retail technology
- Experience in stock management or merchandising
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and peak trading periods
- Enthusiasm for sports and leisure products
