Our client, a global property group, is looking for a Temporary Service Charge Accountant to join their London team for an initial period of 9 months. You will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management of a portfolio of properties and play a critical role in delivering accurate and timely service charge accounting. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role. This role requires an immediate start.
Description
The responsibilities of the Temporary Service Charge Accountant include but are not limited to:
- Ownership of day-to-day service charge accounting for a property portfolio.
- Review coding to ensure income, expenditure, accruals and prepayments are booked correctly.
- Reconcile the service charge sub-ledger to the general ledger.
- Prepare year end reconciliations and accounts ensuring all transactions are accounted for correctly.
- Manage and maintain an accurate balance sheet including an accurate cash position.
- Track service charge actuals to budgets and explain variances.
- Ensure all costs or irrecoverable service charges are accounted for.
- Handle tenant queries on service charge budgets, actuals, statements and variances.
- Liaise with internal teams where required.

Skills
The skills of the Temporary Service Charge Accountant include but are not limited to:
- Previous experience with property accounting, property sector regulations and UK accounting standards.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to work with large datasets.
- Advanced Excel skills and a good knowledge of Yardi/Dynamics 365.
- Demonstrable interest and capability in leveraging AI, technology and automation to improve processes.
- Proactive in problem solving and high attention to detail.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with finance, property and operations teams.
