Temporary Works Design Engineer
Location: London EC1
Salary: £40k-£60k + travel to work paid
Are you a structural engineer with several years of experience who would enjoy the challenge of complex temporary works design?
Would you like to work in a fast-paced, contractor-led environment and are you good at thinking outside of the box?
This reputable design consultancy are the design arm of a large main contractor. They are an Employee Owned Trust so their people really count and this enables you to get the EOT bonus benefits.
They also pay your travel to and from the office!
Key Responsibilities:
- Design for non-typical solution-driven temporary works in specialist areas, such as major building façade retentions and various complicated London building schemes.
- Involvement in design for hoardings, barriers, formwork, scaffolding hoists, fabrication design, connection design, Cat 3 checks, heavy temporary works and all sorts of exciting challenges.
- Projects are usually large buildings schemes on complex sites. The role will include dealing with contractors and visits to sites.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
