About The Role
Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a fantastic opportunity for a xxxxxxxx to join our team on the Highways A57 Mottram Moor Link Road Scheme, this role will be based within the Manchester / Longdendale area

What you'll be doing
- Support the delivery of Sustainability activities.
- Work with the team responsible for the on-site management of temporary works.
- Ensure Balfour Beatty’s temporary works are being controlled in line with their BS5975 procedures.
- Contribute to growing and developing the operational temporary works team.
- Responsible for maintaining the TW Duty holder register to keep track of training and experience of eligible TW duty holders and identifying suitable candidates for further development in the management of temporary works for projects. Ensuring compliance & cooperation between design and delivery of temporary works.
- Support the temporary works designers and project team to effectively design and manage Temporary Works on the project.
- Drive & support innovations in both the design & practical application of temporary works on our projects.
- Liaise with clients to determine if schemes may affect the public and to ascertain approval process and certification required.
- Compile and periodically update a Temporary Works Schedule with all relevant information and to periodically review the schedule with the Temporary Works Designer and Project Lead.
- Ensure that the construction method statement incorporates the requirements of both the permanent and temporary works designs e.g., loads on foundations/permanent works, structural integrity, stability and hold points, etc.
- Ensure that an adequate Temporary Works design is carried out.
- Ensure that the duration for temporary works designs, checking and construction are realistically timed in the construction programme.
- Ensure that the completed designs are obtained from the TWD within the required deadline.
- Ensure that the designer complies with the design brief and adequately describes the residual risks. These risks are to be reviewed, accepted and briefed to construction team by TWC.
- Discuss any changes to the design with the TWD and manage the design change process.
- Manage permits for erection of temporary works, inspections, loading and unloading and ensure the competence of any persons where delegated to carry out on-site inspections (e.g., TWS).
- Draw up and agree with site team a list of hold points for certain operations for which inspection is required prior to work progressing further.
- Ensure that erected temporary works are maintained.

Who we're looking for
- Degree level education or equivalent with formal training in civil engineering and/or geotechnical engineering.
- Chartered Engineer preferred or working towards CEng level with either the ICE or IStructE
- Strong, proven experience of the management of TWs in the civil engineering industry
- Expert knowledge of BS5975
- Excellent communications & team working skills.
- Detailed knowledge of CDM Regulations, Principal Contractor & Designer responsibilities
- Sound health & safety knowledge relating to site and design activities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders.
- IT Literate (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, CAD)
- Proven knowledge of National Highways technical standards and approval processes (desirable).
- Attended an approved TWC training course, or TWC Update/Refresher training course.
