Join Our Growing Mechanical Solutions Team in Turriff
Play a key role in securing exciting projects across the offshore and energy sectors. This is a commercially focused role, responsible for identifying and securing profitable business opportunities through the preparation, management, and negotiation of technical and commercial proposals. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting business growth, managing tender risk, and maximising margin performance while maintaining strong client relationships.
What You’ll Be Doing
Business Development & Opportunity Management
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships to maximise tender invitations, repeat business, and market visibility.
- Monitoring market trends and competitor activity while responding to client enquiries and attending key meetings.
Tender Management
- Leading the tender process from enquiry through to contract award, ensuring high-quality, compliant submissions.
- Coordinating cross-functional teams to develop competitive technical and commercial proposals.
- Managing accurate tender documentation, approvals, and opportunity tracking within business systems.
Commercial Management & Risk
- Developing pricing strategies, preparing cost estimates, and assessing commercial and contractual risks.
- Supporting client negotiations and ensuring all commercial assumptions, qualifications, and approvals are clearly documented.
Technical & Operational Coordination
- Collaborating with Engineering, Operations, Workshop, and other teams to develop technically compliant, commercially competitive solutions.
- Ensuring a seamless handover of awarded projects, communicating key technical, commercial, and contractual requirements.

Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitoring tender performance, contributing to process improvements, and participating in post-tender reviews.
- Monitoring and analysing tendering statistics including pipeline performance, bid conversion rates, margin performance, and win/loss trends.
- Participating in post-tender and post-award reviews to capture lessons learned and improve future performance.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of tendering processes, systems, templates, and governance controls.
What Experience You’ll Bring
- Degree, HND, HNC, or equivalent experience in Engineering, Commercial Management, Quantity Surveying, Business, or a related discipline.
- Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of profitability, contract principles, and risk management.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, scopes of work, and contractual documentation.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage with clients and internal stakeholders.
- A proactive, commercially focused mindset with strong planning and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in tendering, proposals, estimating, contracts, or commercial roles within the offshore, energy, marine, engineering, or industrial sectors would be advantageous.
- Experience with ERP, CRM, or tender management systems, along with knowledge of procurement and bidding processes, would be beneficial.
