Role Overview

As a Territory Manager, reporting to our Head of Field Sales, you will have responsibility for igniting and managing rapid revenue growth in our sector within the South Wales Territory. As an invaluable member of the sales team you will have the vision, drive, and interpersonal skills to succeed in a double-digit growth environment. You will be a “hands on” sales professional operating with a sense of ownership of your Territory. You will be responsible for growing the customer base through personal prospecting within assigned area emphasizing relationship building and Mr Fothergill’s commitment to value and service before, during and after the sale.

Core Responsibilities

  • Selling to, reviewing and servicing an existing account base of around 150-200 customers consisting of garden centres, Hardware and DIY stores, looking for gaps and opportunities for business to grow market share within the existing customer base
  • Focus on merchandising opportunities, growing core ranges, ensuring product visibility to achieve sales objectives
  • Building and maintaining excellent customer and key account relationships
  • Proactively pre-empting the needs of key customers
  • Range reviews/promotional activity – reviewing ranges regularly throughout the year, to ensure we are adding value to our customers’ business
  • Providing accurate and prompt feedback regarding activity in your territory including competitor activity
  • Attending promotional events.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who has a minimum of one year’s experience in sales or a customer facing role, ideally within a horticultural setting, such as a garden centre, or consumer goods and demonstrates:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management and the ability to effectively prioritise customer visits across the region
  • Success in managing and growing existing accounts
  • Attention to detail, and possess a strong work ethic
  • A positive attitude, respect for others, and a willingness to contribute to continuous improvement are key

The role requires regular regional travel, so a current clean UK driver’s license.
