Store Colleague

About the Role

This is an opportunity to be the heart of our store, serving our customers every day. You’ll bring energy, passion, and a commitment to great service—helping shoppers feel valued from the moment they walk through the door.

Tesco is looking for colleagues who:

You’ll play a critical role in ensuring Tesco remains a favourite shopping destination for every customer.

Availability Window

When are you available to work? Tesco needs flexibility to meet the demands of our stores, so below are general availability windows. We’ll schedule your shifts within these times, and you’ll have 3 weeks’ notice for your exact shifts:

  • Monday: 15:00 – 23:15
  • Wednesday: 10:00 – 21:00
  • Friday:
    • 05:30 – 14:30 (earlier shift)
  • Saturday: 05:30 – 14:30

Important: While these times are ideal, if you can match most of them, we’d still welcome your application.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serving Our Customers: Consistently deliver warm, natural service with passion—our customers are at the heart of what we do.
  • Product Knowledge: Want to be confident about the range in your store, helping shoppers find exactly what they need.
  • Versatility: Work across departments, including picking, replenishment, service areas, entry areas, and sometimes deliveries.
  • Safety & Efficacy: Implement training to ensure a safe, organised store—knowing your routines helps keep service and sales on track.
  • Customer-Centric Decisions: Be positive and quick to spot opportunities to improve service (e.g., current offers, stock display).
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in seasonal campaigns, community events, and charity drives to create a strong connection between Tesco and the local community.
  • Quality Handling: Care for products to perfection—ensuring they’re in top condition for customers.
  • Team Alignment: Live our core values and foster a culture where everyone feels welcome, including respecting our policies at all times.

Working Hours & Pay

  • Pay: Starting rate of £13.28/hour, rising to £14.55/hour (for stores within the M25). Base rate changes may apply due to location or performance bonuses.
  • Hours: A minimum of 12 stable hours/week is guaranteed—unsure how many hours you’d like? No problem! We value discretion.
