Store Colleague Role – Availability & Responsibilities

About the Role

This is a dynamic Store Colleague position at Tesco, designed for enthusiastic individuals who thrive on serving customers and contributing to a vibrant team. Whether you're looking for stability, flexibility, or career progression, this role offers variety and genuine impact.

Availability Window

The store requires colleagues to be available during the following hours each week:

  • Sunday

    • From 10:00
    • To 16:15
  • Wednesday

    • From 16:00
    • To 22:00
  • Thursday

    • From 16:00
    • To 22:00
  • Saturday

    • From 08:00
    • To 17:00

Shifts will be scheduled within these windows with 3 weeks’ notice. If your availability overlaps closely but not precisely, we’re happy to consider you.

Note: For roles requiring shifts before 6:15 AM or after 9:45 PM or involving areas such as the warehouse, beers/wines/spirits, and food counters, the minimum hire age is 18.

Pay & Contract

  • Starting pay: £13.28/hour (£14.55 for stores within the M25)
  • Additional location-specific payments may apply
  • Minimum guaranteed hours: 16/week (flexibility for 12-hour contracts available)

What You Will Do

As a Tesco Store Colleague, you’ll be central to delivering exceptional customer service while working across multiple store areas:

  • Creating exceptional customer experiences

    • Greet customers with enthusiasm and deliver pleasure in every interaction
    • Provide knowledgeable, friendly service tailored to customer needs
  • Product expertise & store operations

    • Master products, promotions, and services in your role
    • Assist in picking, replenishing, and stock handling where needed
    • Implement store policies to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency
    • Handle perishable products with care to maintain freshness
