Retail Colleague Role

About the Role

Our Tesco Colleague role offers a variety of responsibilities designed to create an excellent shopping experience for customers. This is a dynamic and rewarding position for those who love serving others and thrive in a busy, customer-focused environment.

Availability Window

The expected availability window is as follows:

  • Sunday: 17:15 – 23:15
  • Friday: 17:15 – 23:15
  • Saturday: 17:15 – 23:15

You will be scheduled within these hours, with 3 weeks’ notice of your shifts. We welcome flexibility—if your availability aligns mostly with these windows, we would still love to hear from you.


Starting Pay

  • Standard Tesco Colleague rate: £13.28 per hour
  • Stores within the M25: £14.55 per hour
  • Additional payments may apply depending on location

We guarantee a minimum of 16 hours per week, though part-time opportunities from 12 hours are available.


What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver exceptional service by knowing your customers and serving them with passion and pride.
  • Be product-knowledgeable and promote our range of products and services effectively.
  • Assist across the store, including in service areas, picking, and replenishment, as needed.
  • Apply trained skills to ensure safety, efficiency, and outstanding customer experiences.
  • Make timely, customer-focused decisions while maintaining store routines.
  • Participate in seasonal, community, and charity events to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Support store performance by understanding key metrics and contributing to sales, sustainability, and waste reduction goals.
  • Handle products with care to maintain quality and ensure they reach customers undamaged.
  • Live our values, create an inclusive atmosphere, and adhere to Tesco policies.
  • Sometimes require delivery handling into the store.
