Retail Colleague Role – Shop Floor Assistant (Tesco)
About the Role
Our Tesco Colleague rate of pay starts from £13.28 per hour, increasing to £14.55 for stores within the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
We guarantee 16 hours per week for new colleagues but offer flexibility for minimum 12-hour contracts if preferred.
Below is your availability window for shifts:

What You’ll Do
Customers are at the heart of Tesco’s mission. In this commitment-driven, varied role, you’ll:
- Serve customers with passion: Greet shoppers, understand their needs, and provide natural, exceptional service with pride.
- Know your products inside-out: Be a keep experts on services/products available in your store.
- Multitask across the store: Assist in service counters, picking, and replenishment when needed.
- Apply safety/training policies: Ensure your own and team safety while maintaining smooth store operations.
- Act on decisions: Take initiative for customer needs—e.g., timings of routines, problem-solving for shoppers.
- Engage with communities: Take part in seasonal, charity, and recruitment events, fostering inclusion.
- Understand (and improve) store performance: Boost service, sales, and profit by reducing waste and stock shrink.
- Handle products with care: Maintain quality and presentation to delight customers.
- Live Tesco’s values: Embrace friendliness, responsibility, and relatable leadership to make every visitor feel welcome.
- Accept deliveries: At times, assist in unloading and restocking at locations near kennels, counters, or others.
