Tesco Colleague - Newmarket Extra

Tesco Associate Role

About the Role

Our Tesco Colleague rate of pay starts from £13.28 an hour; this increases to £14.55 for stores within the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

It is our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week. If you would like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12), we still have opportunities for you.

The table below shows the periods of time in the week we would like you to be available to work:

We will schedule your contracted hours within these times, and you’ll have 3 weeks' notice of exactly when your shifts will be. We are happy to support flexibility for our colleagues depending on the times you are available.


You are responsible for:

  • Knowing your customers and serving them with passion and pride, giving great natural service.
  • Being passionate and knowledgeable about the products and services within your store.
  • Working across the store in our service, picking, and replenishment areas as required.
  • Practicing training to ensure safety, efficiency, and outstanding customer service.
  • Making decisions right for customers and adhering to routines that meet their needs at the right time.
  • Participating in seasonal, community, and charity events, creating an inclusive atmosphere.
  • Being knowledgeable about your store’s performance and understanding the part you play in improving service, sales, and reducing waste.
  • Handling products with care to maintain quality and ensure they reach customers in the best condition.
  • Being yourself, living Tesco’s values, creating a welcoming environment, and following policies.
  • Accepting deliveries into the store occasionally.
