Tesco Store Colleague (Flexible Hours) – Job Role
About the Role
We’re looking for passionate customer-focused individuals to join our team! This role offers flexible working hours, with availability from 22:00 on Tuesday to 07:00 on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Pay & Conditions
- Our Colleague rate of pay starts at £13.28/hour, increasing to £14.55/hour for stores within the M25.
- Night premium: Additional £2.35/hour for shifts 00:00–06:00 (midnight–6am).
- Minimum 16 guaranteed hours/week for new colleagues, with options for reduced hours (minimum 12).
- Scheduled shifts within availability windows with 3 weeks’ notice.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver exceptional customer service with a smile, understanding shopper needs.
- Knowledge of store products and services, ensuring a smooth shopping experience.
- Hands-on involvement in:
- Customer-facing roles.
- Picking, replenishment, and operational tasks across the store.
- Managing deliveries and seasonal/charity events.
- Welcoming diverse and inclusive interactions.
- Drive store performance by reducing waste, improving sales, and maintaining product quality.
- Promote Tesco’s values—be yourself, follow policies, and embody brand pride.

What You’ll Need
- Passion for service—greeting customers warmly and problem-solving with initiative.
- Strong teamwork—collaborate openly, build rapport, and celebrate achievements with colleagues.
- Reliability—punctuality, professional appearance, and readiness to be a brand ambassador.
- Fitness for duties—ability to lift/cart items, work shifts (including early/late times), and occasionally ≥18-year-old requirement for all roles involving pre-6:15am or post-9:45pm hours.
