Store Colleague

About the Role

We’re looking to hire passionate individuals to serve as the backbone of our stores, delivering exceptional service to customers every day.

Availability Window

You must have minimum guaranteed availability as follows during core working times:

  • Sunday From 22:00 to 07:00

  • Monday From 22:00 to 07:00

  • Tuesday (Details not provided, assume similar or call for full specifications)

  • Wednesday From 22:00 to 07:00

  • Thursday From 22:00 to 07:00

  • Friday From 22:00 to 07:00

  • Saturday From 22:00 to 07:00

We will schedule your shifts within these windows, with 3 weeks’ notice of confirmed shifts. Near-matches to availability will be considered flexibly.

Pay & Hours

  • Basic store rate: £13.28/hour (increasing to £14.55 for stores within the M25).
  • Night premium (00:00–06:00): £2.35/hour additional pay after midnight.
  • Guaranteed minimum hours: 16 hours/week, flexible down to 12.
  • Additional payment terms may apply by location.

Responsibilities

As a Tesco Colleague, you will:

  • Deliver passionate, customer-centric service with pride—meeting our "natural service" standards.
  • Master product knowledge to recommend and service shoppers effectively.
  • Support across multiple store areas, including service desks, picking, and shelf replenishment.
  • Apply training methodologies for safety, efficiency, and excellent customer care.
  • Make informed, customer-focused decisions, including executing daily store routines to meet operational needs.
  • Participate in seasonal/charity/community events, fostering inclusivity.
  • Monitor and understand store performance metrics, contributing to profitability and reducing waste.
  • Handle products with care to maintain quality/condition for customers.
  • Model Tesco values and policies, including welcoming diversity in policy implementation.
  • Potentially accept store deliveries during specified times.
