Tesco Store Role – Shopfloor Colleague

About the Role

Our role is about serving customers with passion and pride, creating a welcoming shopping experience, and being part of a diverse, inclusive team.


Availability Requirements

We need you to commit to the following availability windows to ensure we can schedule your shifts effectively:

  • Sunday

    • 09:00
    • 18:00
  • Friday

    • 15:00
    • 21:00
  • Saturday

    • 12:00
    • 21:00

We’ll schedule your guaranteed 16 hours per week (minimum 12 hours) within these windows and provide 3 weeks’ notice for your shifts. If your preferred availability matches closely—even if not exact—we’d still love to hear from you.


Pay & Hours

  • Core pay: Starts at £13.28/hour (rising to £14.55/hour in stores within the M25).
  • Additional payments may apply depending on your role or location.
  • Ensure flexibility for new colleagues—we’ll work with your schedule to suit you.

What You’ll Do

As part of our passionate, varied team, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Delivering great customer service: Knowing your customers and serving them with passion and pride, including smart checking and recommendations.
  • Expertise in products & services: Being passionate and knowledgeable about the products and services in your store.
  • Versatility across roles: Supporting the shop floor, service, picking, and replenishment areas as needed.
  • Safety, efficiency, and decision-making: Applying training and ensuring routines meet customer needs—anytime and reliably.
  • Seasonal/community/culture events: Engaging in events, charity drives, and creating an inclusive atmosphere.
  • Sales engagement: Meeting goals for service, sales, and profit while reducing waste and shrink.
  • Quality handling: Ensuring products reach customers in the best condition.
  • Committing to our values: Aligning with Tesco’s policies, treating everyone with warmth and respect, and representing the brand proudly.
  • Deliveries & logistics: Accepting deliveries as needed.
