Retail Colleague Role – Tesco

About the Role

Availability Window

We require the following working availability:

  • Sunday: 08:30 – 17:30
  • Saturday: 08:00 – 17:00

Salary & Hours:

  • Standard pay: £13.28 per hour (increases to £14.55 for stores within the M25)
  • Additional payments may apply based on location
  • A minimum 16 guaranteed hours per week for new colleagues, with flexible options down to 12 hours
  • Shifts scheduled within advertised availability windows, with 3 weeks’ notice of scheduling
  • Flexibility considered if availability closely aligns—minor variations accepted

What You’ll Do:

  • Be a customer champion, delivering exceptional service with warmth and pride
  • Maintain product knowledge and handle items with care for quality
  • Assist across in-store areas, including picking, replenishment, and service operations
  • Adhere to training standards to ensure safety, efficiency, and customer brilliance
  • Take and service requests by anticipating customer needs
  • Engage in seasonal, community, and charity events to foster inclusivity
  • Monitor store performance, understand your role in sales, customer service, and profit
  • Demonstrate commitment to Tesco values, enhancing customer experiences
  • Accept store deliveries as required

Responsibilities

  • Customer Experience:

    • Applying detailed product knowledge to guide customers confidently
    • Serving customers with natural warmth and enthusiasm while upholding key performance targets
  • Operational Tasks:

    • Active participation across store sections, from customer interaction to replenishment and stock operations
    • Adhering to health and safety procedures in line with training
  • Team Coordination & Growth:

    • Collaborating as part of a diverse team, where skills are valued and nurtured
    • Supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the store environment
