About the Role
Our Tesco Colleague role offers a competitive starting rate of pay of £13.28 an hour, increasing to £14.55 for stores within the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.
It is our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week, with flexibility to offer as few as 12 hours upon request.
Availability Window
Our availability requirements are as follows:
- Sunday: 16:00 – 23:00
- Thursday: 11:00 – 16:00
- Friday: 09:00 – 18:00
- Saturday: 09:00 – 18:00
We will schedule your shifts within these hours with 3 weeks' notice. Flexibility is supported—if your available times closely match ours, we would still love to consider you.
About the Position
As a Tesco Colleague, you’ll be part of an exciting, fast-paced team focused on delivering exceptional customer service. This role incorporates variety, everyday challenges, and opportunities for growth, making it ideal for those who thrive on being hands-on and proactive.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Serving customers with passion and pride, exceeding expectations at every interaction
- Maintaining knowledgeable expertise about products, services, and promotions in your store
- Supporting across the store in replenishment, picking, and service areas as required
- Applying rigorous training to ensure first-rate service, safety, and store operations
- Making customer-focused decisions to drive timeliness and superior service delivery
- Engaging in seasonal, community, and charity events to foster an inclusive atmosphere
- Understanding store performance and personal contribution to sales, waste reduction, and profit
- Handling products with care to preserve quality and presentation
- Embracing our values and policies to create a welcoming environment for everyone

Requirements
To excel in this role, you’ll need:
- A strong passion for customer-centric interactions, including greeting shoppers warmly
- The ability to build rapport and create memorable customer experiences
- Proactive decision-making to address customers’ needs when and where they arise
- Strong teamwork skills and positive communication
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and embrace teamwork
- A commitment to professionalism, punctuality, and showcasing brand ambassadorship
- Must be over 18 years old (essential for this role)
