About this Role – Store Associate
Availability Window
You will be required to be available during the following times as part of your shift scheduling:
- Sunday: 13:00 – 22:00
- Tuesday: 15:00 – midnight
- Thursday: 15:00 – midnight
- Friday: 15:00 – midnight
- Saturday: 15:00 – midnight
Shifts are scheduled within these availability windows, with 3 weeks’ notice for your exact shift times. We also welcome flexible availability—even if your preferred times don’t fully align with those listed above.
Pay & Working Hours
- Tesco’s colleague rate of pay starts at £13.28 per hour (£14.55 in stores within the M25).
- Additional payments may apply depending on location.
- New starters are guaranteed a minimum of 16 hours per week. If you’d prefer to work fewer than 16 hours (minimum 12), we happily accommodate that too.

Your Responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for:
- Serving customers with passion, ensuring each interaction leaves them smiling and satisfied.
- Having deep knowledge of products, promotions, and special offers in your store.
- Supporting across multiple areas:
- Frontline customer service
- Picking and replenishment
- Store cleaning and maintenance
- Applying training effectively to ensure customer service excellence, security, and business needs are always met.
- Making customer-focused decisions, adapting operations to meet daily demands (delivery routines, event support, etc).
- Representing your store in:
- Seasonal and community campaigns (food banks, markets, local charity involvement).
- Promoting a positive and inclusive environment that reflects our values.
- Fostering pride in store performance—understanding metrics and collaborative efforts to boost service, sales, profit, and sustainability.
- Handling goods with care to maintain quality and appearance.
- Embracing our values and culture—warmth, responsibility, and commitment to Tesco’s mission.
