About Tesco Colleague - Shop Floor Roles: Store Operations

About the Role

Our Tesco Colleague rate of pay starts from £13.28 per hour, increasing to £14.55 per hour for stores within the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.

We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week, with opportunities to work as few as 12 hours, if preferred. Below are your availability windows, within which your scheduled shifts will fall. We provide 3 weeks’ notice of your shifts.

Availability:

  • Monday: 11:00 – 18:00
  • Tuesday: 11:00 – 18:00
  • Wednesday: 16:00 – 21:15
  • Friday: 16:30 – 21:15

Your Responsibilities

  • Serve customers with passion and pride, ensuring great natural service.
  • Passionately promote and be knowledgeable about all products and services in your store.
  • Assist across the store, including service areas and picking/replenishing stock as needed.
  • Put into action the training received, ensuring safe, effective work and exceptional service.
  • Make timely, customer-focused decisions and ensure routines meet customer needs.
  • Participate in seasonal, community and charity events, fostering an inclusive atmosphere.
  • Track and understand your store's performance, contributing to service, sales, waste reduction and profits.
  • Handle products with care to maintain quality and ensure perfection when delivered to customers.
  • Be genuine, embody our values and policies, and follow them consistently.
  • Additionally, you may accept deliveries into the store.

Requirements

  • A passion for great service, greeting customers warmly and serving with pride;
  • Ability to build strong customer rapport so they experience a great shopping trip;
  • Initiative and decision-making skills that prioritise our customers;
  • Collaborative skills to work and communicate openly as part of a team;
  • Relationship-building energy to create team spirit, celebrate success and have fun together!
  • Reliability and presentation attention to perform as a brand ambassador on time;
  • Proven suitability for roles requiring work before 06:15am or after 09:45pm, or areas like warehouse work, beers/wines/spirit areas, counters etc.
