Customer Account Manager – Tesco

Overview

At PepsiCo UK, we’re proud to make some of the nation’s favourite snacks and drinks—like Walkers, Quaker, Doritos, Quakers, Pipers, and Monster Munch. Responsibilities

Key tasks for the Customer Account Manager (Tesco) include:

Planning & Strategy

  • Build, align, and execute customer and category plans to drive:
    • Distribution
    • Primary and secondary space allocation
    • Rate of sale
  • Lead insight-led trade and promotional plans, ensuring:
    • Clear SKU prioritisation
    • Compliance with commercial guardrails
    • Tangible business outcomes

Shopper & Category Insights

  • Translate shopper, category, and performance insights into actionable plans that optimise:
    • In-store execution
    • Conversion rates
  • Contribute to Tesco account strategy, including:
    • Analysis of AOP (Assortment Optimisation Plans)
    • Range reviews
    • Long-term customer planning

Account & Relationship Management

  • Manage day-to-day account relationships with key Tesco stakeholders, including:
    • Buying teams
    • Trade Planning
    • Supply Chain
    • Store Operations
  • Deliver best-in-class execution through the "Perfect Store" agenda, focusing on:
    • Availability
    • Visibility
    • Secondary space activation

Performance & Forecasting

  • Oversee forecasting accuracy and in-year performance, detecting:
    • Risks
    • Opportunities to meet volume and financial targets
  • Drive collaboration across Category, Supply Chain, RGM, and Marketing to ensure seamless execution of:
    • Key initiatives
    • "Big bets"

Qualifications & Skills

Essential Requirements

  • Commercial experience in FMCG or organized trade
  • Proven ability to:
    • Drive results based on sales, share, and financial targets
    • Analyse data sets (e.g., sales, distribution, promotional performance) and translate them into clear actions
  • Strong financial acumen, including expertise in:
    • Forecasting
    • Profit & Loss (P&L) ownership
    • Performance tracking
  • Adept at:
    • Influencing decision-makers
    • Building strong relationships with Tesco stakeholders (including Buyers and cross-functional teams)
  • Proactive, results-driven mindset
  • Exceptional communication skills, including:
    • Simplifying complex issues
    • Providing clear recommendations
  • Demonstrable experience collaborating cross-functionally (e.g., with Category, Marketing, Supply Chain, Retail Grands Management)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic commercial environment

Desirable Experience

  • Prior experience working with Tesco or UK grocery chains
  • Knowledge of Tesco’s commercial processes
