About the Role

The Tesco Shift Lead pays £15.59 per hour (rising to £16.86 within the M25), with some locations offering additional payments. We guarantee a minimum of 16 hours per week, though flexible roles from 12 hours are also available.

Shifts are scheduled within your availability window, with at least 3 weeks’ notice. If your preferred slots are close to what we’re looking for, we still encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a customer-focused team to deliver exceptional in-store experiences
  • Coordinate across all store areas and support colleagues with operational queries
  • Foster positive, inclusive relationships to help the team thrive
  • Confidently step in as store representative when the Manager is absent
  • Make adaptable, fair decisions under changing circumstances
  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues with constructive feedback
  • Protect the store’s reputation by staying customer-obsessed
  • Aim to improve environmental sustainability in daily work

Requirements

  • Must be 18+
  • Retail management experience (preferably in fast-paced environments)
  • A strong team leader with a passion for exceptional customer service
  • Inclusive leadership skills to build a supportive, accountable team
  • Clear communication across multiple formats (face-to-face, written, digital)
  • Motivation to inspire and drive excellent team performance
