Availability Window

Operating hours are 24/7 from 06:30 until 22:30, every day of the week (Sunday to Saturday):

  • Sun: 06:30 - 22:30
  • Mon: 06:30 - 22:30
  • Tue: 06:30 - 22:30
  • Wed: 06:30 - 22:30
  • Thu: 06:30 - 22:30
  • Fri: 06:30 - 22:30
  • Sat: 06:30 - 22:30

At Tesco, the Shift Lead position offers:

  • A starting pay of £15.59 per hour, rising to £16.86 in stores within the M25 area (some locations may offer additional payments).
  • A guaranteed minimum of 16 hours per week, though roles from 12 hours are also available.
  • Hours scheduled within your availability window, with at least 3 weeks’ notice before shifts are assigned.
  • Notes: You must be 18 or over to apply.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead the team to ensure an outstanding customer experience in-store.
  • Cover all areas of the store and act as the key go-to person for daily operational issues.
  • Foster positive, inclusive relationships to help colleagues perform at their best.
  • Be confidently stepping in to manage the store in the Manager’s absence.
  • Make balanced, flexible decisions and adapt effectively to change.
  • Lead through coaching colleagues, providing feedback, and role modelling exceptional service.
  • Hold an open-to-learning attitude, always seeking ways to improve customer, community, and planetary well-being.

Requirements

To apply, you must:

  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Have experience working as a team lead or in a management role in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Be a strong role model passionate about delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Excel in building long-lasting relationships to create a supportive and inclusive team culture.
  • Be a clear and adaptable communicator, capable of using various methods to inform and engage the team effectively.
  • Demonstrate natural leadership skills, motivating and inspiring your team to achieve outstanding results.
