Monday

  • :06:00 – 15:00:00

Wednesday

  • 15:00:00 – 24:00:00

Friday

  • 11:00:00 – 20:00:00

Saturday

  • 13:30:00 – 22:30:00

Our Shift Leader rate starts from £15.59 per hour. Additional payments may apply depending on location.


We offer:

  • A minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week to new colleagues.
  • Opportunities to work as few as 12 hours per week upon request.

Shifts are scheduled within these availability windows, with 3 weeks’ notice for shift dates. Flexibility is encouraged if your preferred availability aligns closely with ours.

Key Responsibilities

As a Shift Leader, you’ll:

  • Run fast-paced retail shifts, coordinating teams while ensuring the store remains clean, well-stocked, and customer-focused.
  • Deliver everyday challenges with a committed and proactive attitude.
  • Take ownership of duty shifts, focusing on aligning team coordination and operational execution.
  • Act as a direct point of interaction with customers, ensuring their questions are addressed and expectations exceeded.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service, coaching colleagues and providing constructive feedback.
  • Lead teams historically or in the manager’s absence, fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for colleagues and customers.
  • Anticipate and resolve store performance issues with proactive solutions to enhance efficiency.
  • Lead by example and embody the ethos of outstanding service and team initiative.
  • Open/close the store, ensuring duty procedures run smoothly and ensure decision-making aligns with team well-being and safety.

<h4>Age Requirement</h4> Candidates must be **18 years or older**.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

As a Shift Leader at a Tesco store, you will:

  • Coordinate store activities to deliver seamless shopping experiences for customers.
  • Ensure the team adheres to priorities and takes regular breaks for optimal performance.
  • Open/close the store and complete duty cover with a focus on well being and operational accuracy.
  • Provide immediate support, answering team-specific questions and queries efficiently.
  • Maintain store presentation standards, keeping the area clean, tidy, and customer-directive.
  • Collaborate with managers on seasonal, community, and charity events.
  • Foster an inclusive team culture that is both supportive and respectful.
  • Deliver personalised customer service, addressing needs and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Keep the team informed about updates, policies, and any misinformation regarding shifts.
  • Drive continuous improvement, identifying areas for operational efficiencies and optimising service.
  • Lead project coordination supporting restructures and service upgrades.
  • Prioritise health and safety, adhering to Tesco’s operations standards.
  • Recognise and compliment employee contributions to reward outstanding service.
