Tesco Shift Lead (Night) – Store Role

Shift Lead (Night) positions are central to delivering exceptional customer experiences in Tesco stores.

Availability Window

This role operates within the following time slots:

Your shifts will run within these windows, ensuring you avail yourself during the night hours. While your availability will eventually align closely with these slots, we encourage applications even if it’s not a perfect fit.


Pay Details

  • Starting salary: £15.59/hour (rising to £16.86/hour in stores within the M25).
  • Overtime: Night premium of £2.35/hour for all shifts worked between midnight and 6am.
  • Some stores may offer additional pay.
  • Minimum guaranteed weeks: 16 hours per week (though intermediary roles starting from 12 hours may also be available).

All shifts will be allocated with at least 3 weeks’ notice to accommodate your schedule.


Requirements

Age & Experience

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Experience in a team lead or management role within a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Strong preference for candidates who demonstrate a passion for customer service excellence.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

As a Shift Lead, you’ll handle core duties including:

  • Leading teams to deliver consistent, outstanding customer experiences.
  • Supporting all store areas and function as the on-the-ground go-to person for coordination.
  • Handling operational queries and issues efficiently.
  • Inspiring and guiding colleagues through coaching and feedback.
  • Making real-time decisions to ensure smooth store operations.
  • Leading the store in the Manager’s absence, meeting the organisation’s standards.
  • Fostering a curious spirit to continuously improve service for customers, communities, and the planet.

Requirements

Skills & Attitude

  • Retail Experience: Formerly worked as a team lead or manager in retail.
  • People Skills: Strong ability to build positive and empowering relationships.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working flexibly, adjusting to the pace of customers and store needs.
  • Commitment: Willing to invest in continuous growth.
